Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is a beautiful park in
the heart of Fort Lauderdale Beach. It has become a destination in itself, full
of different things to do. In 1893, a prominent Chicagoan came to Florida
seeking paradise. He found it in 3.5 miles of beachfront land. When he died in
1941, Birch donated the land to the state of Florida so that developers
wouldn’t get their hands on it.
Outdoor Activities
This state park is the perfect choice if you want to try
kayaking or canoeing for the first time! You can either rent kayaks or join one
of the guided kayaking tours here. For an exciting and unique experience, try a
full moon kayaking adventure. Since it only takes place once a month, schedule
around this nighttime adventure! If you cannot work around the moon, there is a
sunset kayaking tour every Friday. You can rent canoes or kayaks here for
either two hours or a half day.
For those who want something to get the adrenaline pumping,
try out the jet skis they have available to rent.
Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is also a great place to
bicycle, rollerblade, birch watch, or sit outside and read a book under the
shade of a palm tree. This park is a local favorite, and you will often find
visitors getting some much-needed R&R on the weekends.
Great On-Site Restaurant
Hugh Taylor Birch State Park’s Park and Ocean restaurant is
a great destination to grab a beer and eat something delicious! Salty sea air
can bring out an appetite! With oceanfront views and its own on-site brewery,
Park and Ocean is an excellent spot to unwind, grab a beer, and dine. They also
have live music to enjoy on the weekends.

A true local to South Florida, I was born and raised right here in Broward County. As an avid traveler, I have always loved staying in AirBNBs because it allowed me to have a more authentic experience of the city I was exploring. When presented with the opportunity to become a host in my hometown I was thrilled to bring that same experience to people visiting South Florida.
